Maine Deer and Moose Hunting Season

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife comments about Moose hunting during hunting season as follows.

“Maine’s moose population is the largest of all the lower 48 states, estimated at 60-70,000 animals. This presents an incredible hunting opportunity for those lucky enough to win a Maine moose permit.

And the appeal is no secret — every year, the Maine moose hunt is among the most coveted in the nation, with an average of 50,000 applications for the 2,000 to 3,000 moose permits typically issued.”

Maine Game Bird Hunting Season

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife comments about Pheasant hunting during hunting season as follows.

“Thanks to the continued support of pheasant hunters from Maine and elsewhere, MDIFW, in cooperation with members of several dedicated Fish and Game Clubs, will stock about 2000 pheasants at 20 sites in York and Cumberland Counties.”

Maine Black Bear Hunting Season

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife comments about Bear hunting during hunting season as follows.

“Bait may be placed 30 days prior to the bear hunting with bait season and no later than October 31. Bait areas must be cleaned up by November 10. Bait can be used to assist dog hunters and trappers, but it is illegal to shoot a bear over bait after the close of the hunting with bait season.”
