“Alabama is rich in natural diversity with more than 1.3 million acres of public hunting land and some of the most liberal seasons and bag limits in the nation. Hunters have the opportunity to hunt many species in Alabama including, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, mourning doves, bobwhite quail, feral hogs, waterfowl, rabbits, squirrel, and many other species.”

Alabama Deer Hunting Season

Alabama offers some great opportunities for deer during hunting season. According to Outdoor Alabama:-

“The White-tailed deer is the number one game animal hunted in Alabama. Approximately 180,000 deer hunters account for more than 4 million man-days of hunting activity annually and have a significant impact on the local economy of rural Alabama. The harvest varies from year to year but hunters typically harvest in excess of 300,000 deer annually.”

Alabama Turkey Hunting Season

Alabama offers diverse opportunities for Gobblers during hunting season. According to Outdoor Alabama:-

“Alabama has a fall season in a few counties, but the spring season is when most of the turkeys are harvested in the state. Alabama hunters enjoy one of the longest seasons in the country.

Hunters are allowed to harvest a total of five turkeys, gobblers only–one per day, during the combined fall and spring seasons. Decoys are allowed in the spring season only.”

Alabama Small Game Hunting Season

Alabama has a range of small game hunting opportunities during hunting season. Alligators may also be hunted with a special permit. Many of these have a year-round Open Season. Bating is not allowed and certain bag limits per species may apply so please check. Feral Hogs can be hunted at nighttime with Dogs only.
