With the success of the original Makro Racer and it’s team of loyal users, Makro decided it was time to launch an upgraded Racer Metal detector one that keeps up to date with the competition.

Using the same cutting-edge technology its predecessor used, the Makro Racer 2 gets a boost and some cool extras that will no doubt help the user find more amazing relics and coins.

There is a new “Deep” mode and waterproof search coil, along with some other handy modes and features which we will discuss further down in this Makro Racer 2 review.

Makro Racer 2 Appearance & Design

Firstly the thing that you’ll notice about the Makro Racer 2, well the first thing I noticed anyway was the build quality. It looks sturdy, it looks professional, there’s nothing about it that looks like a toy!

The Makro Racer 2 is predominantly black, with just a splash of red coming from the buttons and the logo.

I was a little disappointed with the weight, especially in 2021 where detectors are coming in at under a kilo. That being said it’s not too heavy but you will know you’ve got it in your hand. With the batteries and the coil fitted the Racer 2 weighs in at approximately 1.4kgs.

Height wise it’s fully adjustable to suit the height of the user, from 120 cm to 140 cm (47″ – 55″)

It features a nice square large LCD screen with 4 simple buttons. When switched on the screen glows with a nice bright blue backlight and the buttons illuminate red.

While holding the Racer 2 you will notice how comfortable it is this is largely to do with the soft sponge grip padding and the padding and strap for the forearm rest.

Summary

The Makro Racer 2 is a well built, sturdy, and very comfortable to swing metal detector.

The control layout is simple and easy to programme. It has tons of power and is sensitive to small targets.

It has awesome target separation which makes it perfect on iron-infested ground ( the best I’ve ever seen).

I would recommend this to someone who has prior metal detecting experience.

It can be tuned down for a newbie but it might still be too noisy for a first-timer.

Be prepared to dig deep!
