Metal Detecting Clubs in Bedfordshire

The Detectorists

The Detectorists metal detecting club is run in partnership with Mark Coles and Don Malkin, who have 50 years of detecting experience between them. They have permissions on lots of new undetected land plus some old favourites from Marks most productive sites. They hold digs in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Lincolnshire, and surrounding areas.

Digs are held on Sundays and Thursdays and they also host at least one weekend event each year. New members are always welcome, with memberships running from Jan 1st to 31st Dec. Membership is £20 Plus £1.50 postage and admin fee.

Metal Detecting Clubs in Berkshire

Wessex Metal Detecting Club

The Wessex Metal Detecting Association are primarily a social club that goes metal detecting. Membership is currently limited to sixty people and they give priority to applications from new detectorists and those living in the Newbury area. Although based in Newbury, they regularly detect in Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. 

Meetings are held at 8.00pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday in every month at the Conservative Club, Newbury. Visitors are always welcomed, so just go along to (almost) any meeting.

SLC Metal Detecting Club

Metal Detecting Clubs in Derbyshire

Derby Artefacts Recovery Metal Detecting Club (DARC)

DARC are one of the longest running metal detecting clubs in the country, having been in existence since 1977. They are based in Derby and offer a free recovery service for lost items.

Meetings of the club are on the first Thursday of each month (excluding January) and are held in the evenings. Digs are usually on a Sunday, again each month. Membership is limited to 80 members and members are expected to be members of NCMD or equivalent for insurance purposes.

Metal Detecting Clubs in Gloucestershire

Taynton Metal Detecting Club

Club meetings are held every two months at the Taynton Parish Room, Gloucester, Gloucestershire, GL19 3AN. The Taynton Metal Detecting club have at least one organised dig a month, a minimum of 20 per year, usually approximately 35.

The club also has extensive open sites which are available to all full members throughout the year. Memberships are limited to 25 and turnover is low.

Formed way back in 1974 by several like minded people with a passion for metal detecting.

The club meets every second Thursday of each month and you will have to attend at least 2 monthly meetings before being allowed to attend digs, so the members can get to know you.

Toads Metal Detecting Treasure Hunts

An excellent Facebook group with over a thousand members and regular metal detecting digs around Warwickshire, organised by Nathan Smith (Mr Toad). The group has tons of permissions. Too many for one man to detect on his own & new permissions. Public Group, open to all who wish to join. Good participation in the group with finds pictures and IDs and generally looks great fun.

Membership is free. Dig price per person- £15. Under 16s free. Charity dig price per person – £25 (At least 75% of these days goes direct to charity, not the whole amount)

Dig days are every Sunday. Other than that, keep an eye on the ‘Events’ tab for other dig days. Just click “Going” if you want to attend. A group chat within messenger is created a few days before the dig, including only those attending the dig. The exact location of the dig is shared in the group chat the evening before any dig. Free cold drinks are available on all digs, with hot food & packed lunches available occasionally.

Detecting for Veterans

Jason Massey is the main point of contact for this wonderful metal detecting club. The metal detecting club is for armed forces veterans and was created initially as a form of therapy for PTSD. A very friendly group with nationwide events and rallies.

The Metal Detectives organise various metal detecting digs around the South of England.
